My hubs is a PCA pastor, my kids are adopted, I think I am witty and so I'm writing anecdotes here for anyone who is tugged by those things and would like to keep up with us.

A Wee Wee Bit o Comedy and Whatnot about the Institution
I've sent the kids off to the institution. Yes, they are all in brick and mortar public schools (gasp!) I read the Bible with my kids before squeezing their cheeks and coaxing them into the van. I drive up to the school, slow the silver bullet, and put my boot to their backsides just before screeching out of the lot on two wheels (I hate it when they hang onto the door handles and I have to use my hand in their faces to shake 'em--but bless their little hearts for such a good effort before rolling to the ground.)
After institution, I chuckle to myself as all the parents walk out off smiling with their one child skipping along. I sit in the lot, hang out the window and holler, "OVER HERE!" they jump out in front of busses bearing down on them and burst into the van all shouting at me simultaneously about who did what and who didn't and, "Hey, why does SHE get to sit in the front seat?" I sip the last of my stevia iced coffee as I slide into the exit lanes ignoring the fights from the back while the kid in the front prattles on about her day.
I'm being a bit cynical about it all but I'm not really taking it quite that lightly. I feel like I'm treading on dangerous ground. I'm sending my kids off and they know it's this big deal important thing: We lay out our clothes the night before and pack bookbags and it's all big stuff. It would be easy for me to lose sight of THE big stuff because it's all so busy. Fortunately, each morning I have been able to spend time in God's word with the kids before taking them to institution and I've told them they are going to learn helpful things from books and teachers in school (some good and some they should question) but it would be silly to not remember the most important book and teacher is God and His word so we start with that. I've been reading the Proverb that matches the day of the month. It's a "no brainer" way to go when in a hurry to get it all in. I try to pull out one verse to talk about as they head into their big day hoping to prepare them to be ready to honor the Lord in their day. I have big plans to incorporate Bible memory into our days regularly. Maybe afternoon snack would be an appropriate time for that. Anyhow, it is going well and I'm enjoying time to get things accomplished during the day.
Today I painted shelves, made important phone calls, made my own yogurt, mailed stuff at UPS, researched which vacuum cleaner to buy since mine doesn't suck at all. I can't believe I still have 2 notebook pages full of things to take care of. K12 starts Monday and I still haven't withdrawn my kids from that! Well, it will all get done in due time. I just remembered I'm supposed to send along the "quilt" chain I agreed to do (whoops!) and my sis in law is patiently waiting on a zucchini bread recipe-luv u E, thx for your patience!
I guess that's all for now. Sorry for no pix tonight. [Insert mental artistic photo of school zone lights or busses, etc. because I haven't uploaded the "first day" pix yet. Just something to keep you coming back for more!]
