The Hope of Future Things…Prayer Warriors Week 2

Last week I introduced you to my Prayer Warrior Notebook here. This week I am especially focusing on praying about our home(s). For those who would like to join me or are just curious about what I'm thinking about here are some things that press on my mind:

  • Paperwork for our home here to be finalized.
  • To find a home in Watseka--we found out Wednesday OUR home-the home that we loved and adored and had already mentally decorated and moved into is no longer available.

I'll stop my prayer list for a minute to tell you this story: My husband wanted to make an offer on that home last Friday, indeed we went there planning to make an offer on that home but after reassurances from our realtor about calling the listing agent, letting us know if it receives an offer and she really didn't expect it would go anywhere we agreed to wait until our papers were signed for our current home (which we anticipated would happen this week.) We got an email Weds. from our realtor that "our" house was now listed as "contingent" on the website and indeed it is. When I checked it last Thursday night before leaving for Watseka it was "active". Our realtor called the listing agent to express our interest in the home only AFTER she saw the "contingent" notice on the website Wednesday. The offer seems to have come in/been accepted over the course of time we planned to put in our offer. So I share that story not to bash on our (former) realtor but because you see God working. Right now I'm sad, angry, frustrated about this love of ours being snatched away from us but I know sometime in the future we will better understand what God had in store for us by not allowing us to have this house. And I really am thankful He has made it OBVIOUS that house was not really ours. It's an excellent reminder of the fact that we plan and go but God will direct our footsteps as He orchestrates our lives to His own good and perfect will.

This unfortunate but unignorable (i'm stretching your vocabulary with my own lynnetteism) mistake dictates we move our business to a full-time realtor looking out for us and that leads me back to my prayer list:

  • to have a good name in this small town and not ruin our witness as we say goodbye to our previous realtor and other such situations with individuals that I'm sure will we come up in the future.
  • We are making a day-trip out there tomorrow (Saturday) to start looking again.
  • To find favor with the lender for our home loan.

Thank you to those who are praying for us. After two days I think we are pretty much over the grief of losing out on that house. We have spoken with a new realtor and are already looking forward to the future as we have some more promising homes to look at (isn't that what being a Christian is all about? Looking forward to the future, having hope of something better ultimately in eternity with Christ! but exciting even here in lesser ways.) It's a good week when I have need to remember I'm not really in control of all this stuff. God is. He's got the whole world, and the wee killys in His hand!
